In this tutorial, you'll learn how to add mist over the water surface and give it a fantastical dreamy look.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to add mist over the water surface and give it a fantastical dreamy look.

We will turn this image:

to this:

Open the image in Photoshop and select the lower half of the image. Press CTRL+C to copy it and CTRL+V to paste it creating the new layer.

Adjust the Hue/Saturation of the image so we can get rid of that orange color on the image. So go to Image>Adjustment>Hue/Saturation and set the value as shown below

Now press Q on your keyboard to enable quick edit mode. Select the brush from tools and paint over the image like as shown below. Be careful not to paint over the rocks.

You can go close to then but be careful while paint this. Your image should look like this after painting.

Now take the eraser tool and clear the rocks more precisely. Also on the top of red mask paint over with eraser so it look like something below.

Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and put this value to give a more blurry effect around the rocks.

Now press Q on your keyboard again and you will see it turn into selection. Now go to Select>Inverse or simply press CTRL+SHIFT+I to inverse the selection.

We will add Gaussian blur filter to this selection so go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and add effect like shown below:

Select the original layer and duplicate it by moving it to the new layer icon in the layers palette. Move the new layer to the top. Go to Filter>Blur>Radial blur and use these setting and hit OK.

Turn the opacity of the layer down to 77% and select the bottom half of the layer with select tool. go to Filter>Distort>Twirl and adjust the settings as follow.

Hit ok and press CTRL+D to deselect. Now as you notice there are some grains in the picture and we can remove them by applying the Reduce noise filter. Go to Filter>Noise>Reduce Noise and set the setting as shown below.

Now add a layer mask to this layer. Select the brush tool from tools and set the color to black and paint over the sky and rocks. Again, be careful while painting over rocks. Result should look like something below:

Now create a new layer.
Select the brush tool.
Choose white color and draw random lines like this. (It does not have to be exactly same)

Go to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur and hit OK.
Now select the bottom half of your document. Go to Filter>Distort>Twirl and hit OK.
Finally go to Filter>Other>Maximum and set this value and Click OK.

Now Create layer mask on this layer and clear out the rocks as we did earlier on the other layer. Turn the opacity down to 57% for this layer.

Now to give it a more nicer look we are going to change the sky. I found this picture www.smugmug.com/photos/279777952_JsNQB-D.jpg and took the sky. When you put the new sky in your document adjust the layer at the bottom of original layer like illustrated below:

Now for that final greenish look add a new layer and fill it will #61760a color. Turn the blending mode to Overlay and opacity to 46%.

Again add a new layer and fill it will #445368color. Turn the blending mode to Overlay and opacity to 66%.

There you have it. the final Image.

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create a professional looking movie poster design in Photoshop.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a professional looking movie poster design in Photoshop.

Before start designing poster you have to do some brain storming about your poster design which mean think some question in your mind e.g what would be the best color grading for your movie poster?. choosing font? do some research, gather resources for your movie poster and you should have good photo collection indeed. So These are key tips for making Professional Looking Movie Poster.

<script type="text/javascript"

src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Part 01 First Block
Create new document size 27 inch width and 37 inch height, 72 dpi, name this document crank poster. and make new layer and fill with color value = FF9900 and leave this poster document open for later use.

First I composited two separate photos to one image.

To make this open first photo and use pen tool for cropping.

Put this crop image above second photo Use eraser tool right click anywhere on picture and change the hardness value to 34% and master diameter to 200 px value to composite with second image erase top image from sides to merge with below image.

Then top image blending mood change to color burn.

Duplicate second image and change blending mood to overlay.

Duplicate this overlay second image and move little further erase image except character head for making that character looking blurry for color grading make new layer and fill with color value = FF9900 blend this color layer to overlay.

For color grading make new layer and fill with color value = FF9900 blend this color layer to overlay. Now you have your high voltage design with your character is ready. Select all layers in your layer palettes and press CTR+E on keyboard to merge this composite… move this composite image to your Poster document. and place this image in upper position or block on your crank poster. Now write your movie title and tag line.

Part 02 second block

Crop your image

For making electric shock effect on my character use these below setting on crop image. duplicate your motion blur image two time use blend mood to linear dodge for first duplicate and and lighten for second.

Part 03 second block
Make "release date of movie" by simple technique and put it in center of your second block blend some image in this block.

<script type="text/javascript"

src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Make new layer and move this new layer to just above background layer. Put cloud filter on it and change blend mode to overlay this layer should be above your background layer.

In the last credit block use movie font which you can find free on internet and see my order for credits.

Thanks

In this tutorial you will learn how to create fantasy like creatures such as orbs and incorporate them in the image to give it a killer effect.

In this tutorial you will learn how to create fantasy like creatures such as orbs and incorporate them in the image to give it a killer effect.

We will turn this image:

to something like this:

Open the image in Photoshop and create a new layer over it and fill it with black color. Add another new layer in which we will create a blue orb.

Select the Paint brush tool and choose a dark blue color. I used this one (#000066) from the color palette.

Select the appropriate diameter for the brush and click on the your document to create something like this:

New select a lighter color from the color palette. I used #0000cc.

Make the diameter of brush a little smaller and just click over the dot we already created.

You can get the idea from the image below how smaller diameter you might need:

Now select a more lighter shade of blue and click over the dot again. I used #3399ff.

Again select a more lighter shade of blue and click over the dot again. This time I used #99ccff.

Now select the white color from the palette and make the diameter of brush more smaller and click on the center of dot so you get something like this:

Select the Smudge tool from tools:

Now create the tail from the edge of blue shiny dot like this.

Now this will take a few tries to do this but you can use your imagination and create a shape as you imagine. I ended up with drawing something like this:

Now we will create the particles effect on the orb we just created.

Select the brush tool and press F5 to bring up the properties. Enter these values:

Now select a light blue color from the color palette and brush over from head to tail like this:

Turn the Opacity down a little bit if you need to.
Now we are done with creating blue effect. Use your imagination to make a green effect like this.

Now delete the black layer we created over the original image and select the original photo layer. Through the Layers palette add a Levels layers and set these values.

Now turn off the mask mode and go to Select -> Inverse. Now add a color balance layer and set these values.

Now repeat the process for green effect. It is almost same as creating blue effect just you have to adjust value differently in the color balance mode. This was my final result.

In this tutorial you will learn how to create cracks on human face using simple photoshop tricks.

We Will turn this image:

to something like this:

Open the image in photoshop and paste a paint peel texture over it. I used this texture:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3262/2722974289_a6ec9b438b.jpg

Now select the paint peel texture layer and change the blending mode to “Luminosity” and turn the opacity down to 32%.

Adjust the paint texture so it will fit around her eyes and look like this:

Now we will create a mask in the paint peel texture layer and remove the cracks from her eyes and other unwanted areas. Add layer mask like this:

Next, select Paint Brush tool and set the color to black and paint through her eyes, eye brows and the rest of area around her face. Your end result should be something like this

As some area in the forehead in empty so we will add another cracks texture to fill it up. I used this image: http://www.atpm.com/8.04/travels/../../../../images/MudCracks.jpg

Change the blending mode of new texture layer to “Luminosity” and turn the opacity down to 32%.

Adjust the new texture so it will fit around the empty area on her forehead.

Add layer mask.

Select Paint Brush tool and set the color to black and paint through all over the image expect for the empty area on her fore head.

It should look something like this:

Through the Layers palette add a Channel Mixer and set these values for the channel mixer.

Now we will change the color of her eyes. So, take a pen tool and draw around the eye ball as shown.

With the pen tool still selected, right click on the image and select Make Selection and hit OK.

Select the original picture layer. Press Ctrl+U on on your keyboard to open up Hue/Saturation window and enter these value.

Repeat the same process for second eye so in the end you will get a result like this:

Play with the setting of channel mixer to get more nice results like this one:

That’s all.

The ASP.NET AJAX extensions also provide cross-platform support for accessing ASP.NET Web Services via JavaScript.

Before we can get started in this tutorial, please make sure that you have installed Ajax extensions. ASP.NET AJAX is built-into ASP.NET 3.5. It is also available as a separate download for ASP.NET 2.0. The extensions can be downloaded from:
http://www.asp.net/ajax/downloads/

In this tutorial we will learn how to make a GridView from scratch and then AJAX enable it using the powerful tools provided in Microsoft Visual Studio.

1. Launch Visual Studio. Go to File -> New website. Select AJAX enabled site from the new windows.

2. Go to the Source View of your file. It should look something like this:

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
<title>Untitled Page</title>
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" />
<div>
</div>
</form>
</body>
</html>

The highlighted tag you see above is the script manager. It must be added on all AJAX enabled pages.

3. We need a table in our database which we can use in our tutorial. Go to your database and create a table. In this example we use a table called ‘employees’ which looks like this:

4. In the design view of your page add a DropDownList into your page and from the edit items add two item which should be "Yes" and "No"

5. Go back to the design view of your page and add a GridView Control from the Data as shown below:

6. Now click on the small square arrow button on the right side of your GridView. From the Choose Data Source drop down list select <New Data Source>… Select the Datasource, make a new connection string and add a query which in the end should look like this:

SELECT * FROM [employees] WHERE ([active] = @active)

Now you can test the page if it is working. At this point please make sure that DropDownList is set to Enable AutoPostBack

7. Now for the main part of enabling AJAX on our application. From the AJAX Extensions Pane add Update Panel contol into your page.

8. Now you have to move your GridView control to this newly added Update Panel so that your code looks like this:

<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
DataKeyNames="id" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="id" HeaderText="id" ReadOnly="True"
SortExpression="id" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="employee_name" HeaderText="employee_name"
SortExpression="employee_name" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="position" HeaderText="position"
SortExpression="position" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="active" HeaderText="active"
SortExpression="active" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="DropDownList1" EventName="SelectedIndexChanged" />
</Triggers>

</asp:UpdatePanel>

In the above code we added the GridView control inside the <contenttemplate> tag.

DropdownList1 is added inside the <triggers> tag of this update panel.

These extensions enable many new rich client features, including partial rendering of pages without requiring a full page refresh, the ability to access Web Services via client script (including the ASP.NET profiling API), and an extensive client-side API designed to mirror many of the control schemes seen in the ASP.NET server-side control set.

This tutorial examines the Triggers functionality of the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel component. XML Triggers give granular control over the components that can cause partial rendering for specific UpdatePanel controls.

PHP Coding

Learn how to add data into mySQL Database using web form and basic techniques to manipulate data.

Alright, adding data into database is pretty simple. Basically, the whole thing can be divided into two parts. A web form and php code that corresponds to it.

Before we get started we create a table in our database which will store the values we are going to submit through our form. We have a database called medical_company, with a table called employees. The database can be created using phpMyAdmin or any other mySQL gui program such as mysqlyog.

Here is the query for creating the table:

CREATE TABLE `employees` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `name` text NOT NULL, `email` longtext NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) TYPE=MyISAM AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ;

Next we need to create an html form which will be used to enter the data. Copy the code below and paste it in a new file called insert.php

<form action="" method="post">
<p>Enter the new employee:<r />
FirstName: <input type="text" name="name" size="20" maxlength="255"
/><br />
Email: <input type="text" name="email" size="20" maxlength="255"
/><br />
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="SUBMIT" /></p>
</form>

Since we are using a single page for our html form and php code, we will keep action attribute of our form to empty as you can see in the above code action="".

Now what we need from this form is that when the submit button is pressed it process the php code, connect to the database and insert name and e-mail values to our data table. Here is the php code which will be executed once the submit is hit:

<?php

//check if submit is pressed

if (isset($_POST['submit']))
{

// connecting to database

$connection = mysql_connect(’localhost’, ‘username’, ‘password’);
mysql_select_db(’medicalcompany’);

//inserting values

$name = $_POST['name'];
$email = $_POST['email'];
$result=MYSQL_QUERY("INSERT INTO employees (id,name,email)".
"VALUES (’NULL’, ‘$name’, ‘$email’)");

//confirm

if ($result) {
echo(’<p>New employee added</p>’);
} else {
echo(’<p>Error adding new employee: ‘ . mysql_error() . ‘</p>’);
}
}
?>

Now that is basically all the php code we need for processing form. This code is executed only if the submit button is pressed. The if (isset($_POST['submit'])) commands checks if the submit button is pressed. Please note that the name of button corresponds the name inside the command. So, be sure to name your submit button same as what is written inside $_POST['']. It is case sensitive too.

Next, we create a $connection variable to connect to our database. We use a php command mysql_connect() which contains information about our database, which includes server name (in this example we use localhost as servername), a username and a password for the database.

Then we use a php command mysql_select_db() to select our database. We are using a database called ‘medicalcompany’ in this example.

Then we create a two variables $name and $email which will contain the values of our textfield in the html form we created. Now we execute an insert query using a php command mysql_query(). I hope you know the basics of sql queries. Basically what it does is that it inserts our data into the table called ‘employees’ which contains the information about employees.

In the end we used the ‘if statement’ to check if the query has been executed successfully or not.

In next tutorial we will discuss how to retrieve the date from mysql darabase.
